Before the Christmas holidays we had lots of fun preparing for our Christmas Show. We performed 3 times for our families and friends. It was so much fun, even if we were a little bit nervous before showtime! We sang “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas”, “Top of the World” and we danced to “Johnny B. Goode”. Gill had us ready to rock!

Christmas came and we took a well deserved break from school work. We woke up to a blanket of snow the week we were due to be back. Although it was fun, we were so glad to see our friends again when we came back to school. We hit the ground running and our theme for the month of January was the Estate Agents in English and Gaeilge. We looked at all the different types of houses and we talked about our dream homes.

In Maths, we looked at 3D shapes. This was great fun and we were able to investigate what shapes could stack, roll and slide. There was lots of hands on learning. We moved on to learn about transformation. This was interesting and we were able to use our new skills to make jigsaws. After this, we looked at the seasons. We were glad to learn that we are leaving Winter behind and moving into Spring. Finally, we looked at lots of different ways making the number 8.

We were super excited to welcome Caoimhe back to school for gymnastics. She has been teaching us all about travelling across the mat and the importance of balancing.

S.E.S.E. has been great fun as we learned about houses from the past and present. To strengthen our knowledge and round off the theme, we built houses using cardboard boxes. These took us a few weeks but showed us that building houses is a tough job!!

We have also begun our farming experience with Millie who rings us weekly to update us on the baby animals on the farm. We look forward to our weekly chats and we learn lots about farming.

We look forward to our weekly visits from Lilian where we have been learning about beats and music notation. We also were lucky enough to get to work with the Beebots this term. It was great fun and we worked on turn taking and teamwork!

Love is in the air as we made love bugs and created hearts in Art.

We are ready for the midterm break now to have a little rest before Spring fully appears.
