Fifth Class

Over this term in English we have been working on different comprehension strategies, we have also finished reading our novel ‘The Lost Girl King’, and have started our new novel, A Street Dog Named Pup. We are now working on compiling a book with all our narrative writing.

In Maths we have been working hard. We have done division and we have also done length and multiplication.

In Gaeilge we have been working on Bia and Caitheamh Aimsire. On Thursdays we have been doing Buddy games in Irish with the younger classes.

In History we have been researching the story of the Inca Empire, we have done mind maps and Inca comics. We have also presented our history slides about Irish myths and legends.

In Science we have built structures out of marshmallows and toothpicks to show how the Incas built houses that could withstand earthquakes. We are also learning about the body and all the different systems in the body.

In art we drew pictures inspired by the Incas and we made paper bunches of flowers for our grandparents for Grandparents Day.

In Music we wrote a song for Grandparents Day, and Olivia's Mam kindly helped us put music to it. We have been practicing songs to sing for the Sixth class’s confirmation.

In SPHE our class has been budgeting on the chrome books for our school courtyard. We also learned about family harmony and designed our own family crests.

In PE we have been having a splashing good time in school swimming! We are also preparing for our FAI soccer tournament, we are so excited!

We can't wait to see what we do next!
