Fifth Class

Fifth Class

In maths we have done addition and subtraction, averages, data and angles. We like practicing our work on Maths Prodigy.

We have done some comprehension strategies including determining importance and inferring in English. We wrote recounts on the day in the life of objects and we brought things such as water bottles and chrome books to life. We also started report writing. We have done reports on counties in Ireland, a presidential candidate and a topic of our choice. We did lots of Kahoots on our Holes novel.

In Irish we did mé féin, which is about ourselves and we also started mo scoil which is about our school. We are getting better at speaking Irish.

In history we started learning about the renaissance and famous artists. We also were learning about how Northern Ireland became part of the United Kingdom. In Geography we learned about volcanoes and we also talked about Italy. We did a project on something we wanted to learn more about in SESE too. In science we did a volcano experiment and a car ramp experiment. It was very fun and cool.

In art we drew Italian buildings and portraits with depth perspective. We also painted like Michelangelo under our tables. We made our own haunted houses. In drama, we made our own puppet shows in groups using our own scripts and finger puppets and they were very funny. In music we are doing Ukulele weekly with Paul. We also learned the song This is Me from the Greatest Showman.

In SPHE we are talking about making decisions and how people help us to make good decisions. We also chatted about different types of families and homes, and how lucky we are to have great families and homes. In PE we played Olympic handball, basketball, dodge ball and other fun games.
