A lot has happened in our first month of school. We can’t believe it has been six weeks since we started 5th class.
For the month of September we were learning about recount writing and we published a piece on our summer holidays. We have read the novel ‘Holes’ and we are going to watch the movie. We really enjoy doing Kahoots on the chapters we have read.
Every week we add new vocabulary to our word wall. We are also trying to improve our comprehension skills and we like doing Read Theory online on Wednesdays.
We are now working on report writing and we are making a book about a European country on Book Creator. We like using Book Creator on the chromebook because it allows us to design and plan projects better.
In Maths we are brushing up on our operations. Our favourite lesson was data and surveying other classes. We also liked making pictures with 2-D shapes using tangrams. We really like Maths Prodigy. We sometimes do it as an early finisher or maths class.
We have done a lot in Geography, History and Science. We did a project on the Renaissance and learned about Italy before doing our own European country projects. We also did experiments to explore the scientific method.

In art we have been sewing using hessian and wool. We did famous Italian buildings using oil pastels. We used the chromebooks to look up reference images. We also painted like Michelangelo under the table. It was tricky but fun. We drew pictures of people we admire while exploring realism, perspective and humanism.

In Wellbeing we are looking at the subject of “Everyone is different, everyone belongs”.We have big goals for 5th class. Our school also does Music Generation. Our teacher's name is Tom. He has taught us a lot last year and we hope he can do just the same this year.
In PE we did Basketball and Olympic Handball. It was great fun.
We can’t wait to see what we are going to do next, and we are looking forward to all the things we are going to do in 5th Class.
