1st and 2nd Class Blog
Run Around Europe Challenge
For the past 4 weeks we have been taking part in the Run Around Europe challenge. We decided as a class to run to Kiev in Ukraine, a distance of 2,516km! A big thank you to some of the 6th class students who helped keep track of our kilometres also.

Hurling and Camogie Sessions
1st and 2nd class have been busy practising their hurling and camogie skills every Thursday. We are very lucky to have Dermot Ryall, one of Kilkenny GAA’s Games Promotion Officers, helps us to develop our basic skills. We love to see Dermot coming with his hurls and sliotars every week!

Engineers Week
Engineers Week took place between the 4th and 8th of March. 2nd class were lucky enough to have local engineers come and speak to them about their job. 1st and 2nd class then had the chance to put their engineering skills to the test by building bridges.

Meet the Farmer Zoom Calls
Over the past month we have been having a live zoom call with Millie McIntyre every Thursday. Millie has been showing us around her farm. We saw baby lambs and calves, we learned all about dairy and beef cattle, and we also got to see cows being milked by a robot.

World Book Day
Church Hill NS celebrated World Book Day on 6th of March. The children dressed up as their favourite character from a book they have read. In the afternoon we were very luck to receive a visit from Claire Lagerwall, a local author who read a story to us and told us all about being an author.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
We had a very busy week celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge from the 11th – 15th March. We had a céilí session with Ms Garrahy, 5th class came to us and taught us some new Irish phrases, we designed posters for our class seanfhocail “Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí”, we dressed up in green for our Lá Glas on Friday, and most importantly of all we had lots of fun playing games as Gaeilge for the entire week.

Swimming
Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd class students started their block of swimming in March. The children love getting into the pool in the Watershed every week perfecting their swimming skills.
