3rd and 4th class have been very busy since we returned to school in the new year.
4th class have been busy working on our swimming skills in our weekly swimming lessons in the Watershed, while 3rd class have been having fun learning lots of new gymnastics skills every week with Caoimhe.
In Maths we have been learning lots about fractions. We have been taking part in lots of team activities to explore and solve problems involving fractions.
In SESE we have been learning all about Italy and the history of Rome. We are working with partners to research and create a project about Italy. We have been using Chromebooks to do online research and we have learned about the importance of safe internet browsing and verifying the information we come across online, as well as how to divide out tasks and compromise! We also learned how to make ice-cream without a freezer.
As a class we have been working on paintings of polar bears in the Arctic. We studied and explored the colours and patterns of the Northern Lights and the shapes and movements of polar bears before creating our own paintings of polar bears on ice.
All of us in 3rd and 4th class were happy to have our grandparents and special people in our lives visit our school for Grandparents’ Day. We enjoyed learning and performing our song ‘Rule the World’ for our special assembly. We also worked together on a Grandparents’ Day collaborative poster and wrote a profile of a special person in our lives.
We had great fun taking part in general quizzes with our teacher and Ms. Murphy and are very proud of our 4th class pupils who represented our school in the Credit Union Schools Quiz.
