3rd and 4th class have had a really busy final term. In PE we have really enjoyed our swimming lessons in the Watershed and our gymnastic lessons with Caoimhe.
We have been working hard on an Art and Construction project as part of the Repak Reimagine competition. This required us to work in groups to design and make seats using recycled and upcycled materials. We had great fun sourcing materials from around the school and working together on our designs- it really is amazing how easy it is to repurpose items you may have lying in a shed or garden. Many thanks to John for all the help he gave us.
In Art we also created Sunflower Art and completed work on our Pagoda Gardens. These took us a number of weeks to create as we were using lots of different materials and techniques but we love how each one is completely unique.
In English we have been learning all about different types of poetry as well as planning and writing our own poems. We learned about lots of different poetry techniques such as alliteration and onomatopoeia and have loved spotted them being used in everything we have been reading. As a class we have been reading the novel Wildflower Girl and this ties in to our History where we have been learning about the famine and emigration in the 1800s.
On May 29th we went on our school tour to Let's Go in Kilcullen. We had a great time doing all the activities but we particularly enjoyed the VR, karting and human table-football. According the teachers and SNAs we looked really funny when we were taking part in the VR game! Lots of us had never played a VR game before so it was really strange but exciting.
We have been so busy that we are really looking forward to our summer break. We hope that you all enjoy the summer holidays and we are looking forward to checking in with you again next year when we are in 4th and 5th class!
