November and December Highlights in Senior Infants:

The half term has been full of exciting learning opportunities. We kicked things off by opening our very own Cafe! This hands-on project helped us integrate many different subjects. We even had the chance to run our own café—how cool is that?

In English and Gaeilge, we focused on procedural writing and learned how to follow a set of instructions. We also got to make butter and jam sandwiches as part of our learning. The best part? We even learned how to make butter during Science Week, which tied in perfectly with our procedural writing lessons!

In Maths, we explored length, 2D shapes, and the numbers 6 and 7. We took it a step further during Science Week by testing how far we could throw paper airplanes. It was so much fun to apply our learning in such a hands-on way!

Our P.E. lessons were super exciting as well. We were lucky enough to have Gaelic football for a few weeks. We worked on ball skills and learned how to pass the ball. We also played loads of fun games together.

One of the highlights was taking part in the Dare to Believe webinar with athletes Kellie Harrington, Philip Doyle, and Dáire Lynch. They shared what it takes to become an Olympian, which was truly inspiring!

In preparation for Christmas, we've been practicing for our Christmas concert with Gill. We're learning two songs and a dance, and we're having so much fun with it. We've also been joined each week by Lilian from Music Generation, who teaches us about musical terms and different instruments.

Aistear has been a blast! In November, we worked in the cafe, created recipes, built our own cafes, and even made cows to show where our milk comes from. In December, our theme switched to the Post Office, where we learned about the daily operations there. We wrapped presents, wrote letters, and reenacted life at the post office. One of the most fun parts was trying to create a rocket to take us to the North Pole!

Science week opened our minds to lots of wonderful concepts. We made lava lamps which were really cool!!

In S.P.H.E., we looked at the importance of taking care of our bodies. We also learned about being kind to one another.

As we finish up November and December, we are so excited to celebrate the Christmas festivities with our families.

Nollaig Shona daoibh!
