Welcome to Senior Infants. We have had a very busy start to this school year.
In English, we looked at the school office. We also revised lots of phonics. We love power hour where we get to work in small groups.
We like to read, write, chat and play phonics games.
In Gaeilge, we have been learning about Oíche Shamhna. We have been playing lots of games and learning lots of new vocabulary.

In Maths we have looked at the number 6, time, adding and the equals sign. We had lots of fun creating sets, combining and partitioning and ordering from first to last.

As part of Maths Week 2024, we got stuck into coding. We chose destinations for the Beebots and created algorithms. It was lots of fun and we were delighted to have some Transition Year students and 6th class helpers to teach us how to code.

We were super lucky to have Nore Valley Farm bring our Junior Infants some eggs. These were kept in an incubator for 21 days. One Wednesday afternoon, we heard the chirping of birds and we knew our baby chicks were beginning to emerge from their shells. 4 little chicks appeared and Junior Infants were so kind to let us in to visit them. Lots of wonderful memories made.

Our P.E. strand for the month of September was Outdoor and Adventure. We had lots of fun going on scavenger hunts. In October, we looked at Athletics. We practiced our jumping for height and for distance. We loved creating sequences of jumps and demonstrating our skills to the rest of the class.

As we enter in Autumn, we watched the leaves falling from the trees. We took this inspiration to create wonderful Autumn art. We made leaf rubbings and painted Autumnal trees.

Aistear has brought lots of fun to our classroom. In September, we looked at the School Office. We learned about all the important people in our school. We then took on the roles of secretary and care takers, this ensured our classroom ran smoothly every day.

Once October 1st came, we turned our classroom into a Witches’ Den. Don’t stand still for too long or we will cast a spell on you.

We were delighted to welcome back Lillian from Music Generation this term. She has been teaching us all about percussion instruments and making music with our bodies.

As we reach the midterm break, we are looking forward to having a well earned rest, enjoying the Halloween festivities and spending time with our friends and families. What a great first half term we have had!!
