In English we read No peace for Ameila which is a fictional novel based during the Easter Rising. We all enjoyed it very much. We also did drama based on the novel. The writing genres we have worked on are persuasive writing and poetry. We enjoyed debating with fourth class.
In Irish we learned about An Teilifís, Siopadóireacht and Sa Bhaile. We did drama and pretended to be shopkeepers and customers.
Some of our highlights of maths this term included escape rooms, measuring the court and pricing an astro turf, Gfletchy videos and flipping coins and chance.
In History we learned about Chinese Dynasties, 19th Century Ireland and our locality. In Geography we did a slides project on a river, lake or mountain. We also learned about rocks and soils. In Science we explored animals and plants in our local environment and the human reproductive system.
For PE this term our sports were rounder, tennis and ultimate frisbee. Ultimate frisbee was fantastic. You can’t go wrong with Rounders. Tennis was great craic. Gymnastics was fun too. We had an amazing outside day. Active Schools Week was the best and we finished with Sports Day. We had a Table Tennis tournament and it was great fun and Neal Walsh won.
We went on our School Tour this term. We went to Dunmore East and our favourite part was the fibit and pushing our teachers off. We had a jersey day to support the FTD brothers this term too.
We really enjoyed the Teach the Teacher projects on the Chrome books, We all taught our teacher whatever we wanted. It was super fun and Daniel made about 20 billion of them so that was fun.
During wellbeing week we surprised everyone with sweets. Shhhh don’t tell the other classes.
Ukelele was good again this term with Paul. We went to Uke Jam in the Set Theatre. People had fun left, right and centre.
In SPHE we learned about puberty and the changes that happen. We learned about our body and caring for our body.
It has been a busy term. We have done so much. Swimming Gala, Burnchurch Basketball, School Hurling and Camogie and choir and preparing for the communion/confirmation. We also got our wormery. We also had Austin Gleeson in for a day from Fresh Today.
