Church Hill NS is a healthy lunch school. We encourage healthy choices avoiding sweets, bars, biscuits or fizzy drinks. The alternative foods that provide energy for children throughout the day are well documented on various websites. Bord Bia is one such web site. The promotion of a healthy diet and preservation of healthy teeth are the main reasons for choosing such a policy. Naturally there are times when treats will be enjoyed by pupils eg. Christmas, cakes sales etc.This is a balanced approach but one which favours the healthy option for 95% of the school term.

As some of the children have food allergies, children are not allowed to share their lunches. Parents are asked to always inform the school if their child has a food allergy. If a child has a particularly severe food allergy, parents of others in the class/ school may be asked not to include that food in lunchboxes.
Church Hill NS takes part in the School Meals Scheme. Our food provider is Freshtoday.
